DisDat

DISDAT is a machine learning iOS app that allows you to learn a language the way a child learns new words: by pointing at objects and asking what it is. DisDat is capable of detecting over 120 unique objects and translating them into English, French, Dutch, Spanish and Russian. DisDat even indicates a proper article in languages that have different gendered objects.

DISDAT works with a custom trained object detection model using Tensorflow on 4 NVidia K80 GPUs. The app takes full advantage of Apple's newly released Core ML by deploying a custom-made machine learning model on the iPhone itself.
